VisibleWeb can handle the vast majority of pages and forms that are published on the Internet including those protected by security devices.

• VisibleWeb retrieves web pages including secure web pages and those that require a user identifier and password.

• VisibleWeb submits web forms including web secure forms and those that require a user identifer and password.

• VisibleWeb stores the information returned after web form submission to the users own local folders and files and so can be used at the times of the users choosing and even when disconnected from the Internet.

• VisibleWeb can be configured to automatically retrieve and or submit multiple times and at varying time intervals.

A real example

In this contrived example the performance of the home pages of two UK energy utility companies London Electricity and Yorkshire Electricity are compared.

A standard 56 kbs modem was used with access provided by a highly congested free ISP. Both companies do not use the <FRAME> HTML constructs. If one company used frames then all the component pages in the frameset would need to be downloaded and the times added together for a fairer comparison.

This gives the bald comparison over fifteen retrievals. It is a judgement call as to how much information is actually conveyed in each page. It might help to "normalise" the times. If one company carried twice as much information as the other (always a subjective matter) and the download times were equal it might be possible to argue that the company delivering more information was better than the other. All such claims are subject to the overriding limiting factor which is the speed of information acquision.
